Philosophy “Do No Harm” Sets Tone for Underwater Protocol

Welcome business clients:

Interview with Paul Dymon, of Paul Dymon films, inc, reveals new capability and technical advantage producing underwater in the era of higher resolutions. Background Paul Dymon films was formed from the ashes of Bad Dog, Inc. The Bad Dog corporate name was promptly changed to Paul Dymon films, inc., due to bad publicity and socially unconscionable behavior of infamous Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. His Bad Dogz Kennel is notorious for recent animal abuse violations. Using the corporate name “Bad Dog” was a joke, an oxymoron, because the Dymon family has a long history of raising dogs for people with disablities. “In light of the Michael Vick situation, it is no longer funny,” says Dymon, “We are not abandoning the domain baddoginc.com and hope to donate it to a watch-dog group (no joke) to help put a stop to this atrocious business, sport, hobby and crime of dog fighting. There are no bad dogs, that's the joke, but lots of Michael Vicks.” Ironically, the Dymon’s have raised four Golden Retrievers for Canine Companions for Independence, a Capuchin monkey for Helping Hands Recently the Dymon’s added Island Dolphin Care and feature the group’s “therapy dolphins” in a recently released DVD titled: "HD2O™ ~ The Keys", available online @ hd2o.tv.

Underwater Cinematography prior to HD technology was largely a waste of effort. Chemical-based film was not practical and analog video was not capable. Only well funded scientific research could justify the cameras and crew. The recent shift enables pro-HD cameraflyers, like Dymon, to capture the full color spectrum and produce results truly representative of the beauty found only in live ocean corals, which are actually clusters of animals.

Philosophy:
Paul Dymon films operates with the philosophy: “Do No Harm.” They are adamant not to disturb the environment, the subjects, and they do not create any expectations of human visitors. "We are aliens, underwater trespassers, totally foreign and inefficient underwater. We have no rights or position in nature to touch, disrupt, influence, or alter anything in that environment." Today, protecting and preserving the precious coral reef environments must become a high priority for nations, explorers, adventurers and casual visitors." Dymon explains how easy it is to do our part, “Be mindful of Nature, and DON’T TOUCH!”

Oceanic Observation:
Dressed in black wetsuits in an effort to blend, Dymon’s filmcrew makes every effort to be near invisible with observing an ecosystem. Non-intrusive techniques allow the “cameraflyer” to gain trust and get incredibly close observations as the residents move about naturally albeit with some degree of caution. Dymon’s crew has successfully filmed species at their most vulnerable moment, at rest. This requires a combination of utmost patience, excellent scuba buoyancy control, and physically managing the 60-pound camera rig. "Coral reefs throughout the oceans are in big trouble. Many endangered corals, such as the beautiful Elkhorn Coral hover near extinction from seemingly innocent human intervention either by curiosity or recklessness. Some areas have suffered 97% loss." Dymon recalls diving the Florida Keys in the mid-seventies. He is concerned, but feels the trend could be reversed. "Reef systems occupy only 1% of the vast ocean shoreline, very few people, only 2%, will ever experience first hand the unparalleled beauty." Dymon proclaims, "We enthusiastically support those who preserve and protect the oceans."
For this Las Vegas based High Definition production company all elements have come together at the right time.

Perhaps it is desert living that keeps Dymon’s perspective open to the beauty of the oceans. It’s a bit like going home for this former Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer. It took 30 years for his dream to come true.
